Around October, we had been reading the graphic novels "Maus I" and "Maus II". We had a Writing into the day where we had to talk about who's story the books of Maus were about. When reflecting upon this question, I realized that you could argue either way. Looking at what I wrote, I believe I did a good job at describing why this was true and I used good examples from the readings.
One of the first homework assignments we had to do was to look at the "Where I'm From" poem by George Ella Lyon and write a poem with a similar concept. To the left is my "Where I'm From" poem. This poem does a really good job describing some good values and traits that I possess. It also shows a lot about my life style and describes ways that I do things.
On September 29th, we read a little script so we could reflect upon it. The script was about two parents living with a little kid during the Holocaust time period. The parents were preparing the child for the SS to come to their door and they wanted the child to cover for them. They made up a scheme for him and told him it was a game. I wanted to add this Writing into the day because I thought it was an interesting piece and it also has two others that reflected on my reflection.
The last piece I wanted to add from my day book was the blackout poem. I really liked how this poem turned out and I thought this was a very cool assignment. The poem that I came up with really fitted me. It was all about lying and has the tittle "Peace Keeping Lies". I was raised to be an honest person and I have never really had respect for liars, but there are times when lying is inevitable just to keep the peace. So this particular piece was a perfect fit for me and I thought it turned out to be a good poem.
